U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the arrest of Jeremy Hodge, 39, from Buffalo, New York. Hodge faces charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The charges could lead to a sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey E. Intravatola, who is handling the case, stated, "According to the complaint, on April 4, 2025, a search warrant was executed at Hodge’s Ernst Avenue residence and his vehicle." During the search, authorities found a loaded 9mm firearm, a loaded magazine, ammunition, and quantities of suspected heroin and fentanyl, along with drug paraphernalia. Hodge, who has three prior felony convictions, was arrested at the scene because he is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.
This case is connected to Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice. The operation aims to address illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and shield communities from violent crime. The operation coordinates resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
Hodge appeared in court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and was detained. The investigatory efforts were led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force, directed by Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia.
It is important to note that charges are accusations and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
