U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from Boston have apprehended Cosme De Leon-Barrios, a Guatemalan national residing illegally in the United States. De Leon-Barrios was charged with assault and battery on a family member and an assault and battery on a child with injury. The arrest took place in Revere, Massachusetts, on January 27.

"Cosme De Leon-Barrios is charged with brutally assaulting a child with an injury in our Massachusetts community," stated ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde. "He represents a significant threat to the residents of New England that ICE Boston will not tolerate. We stand committed to our mission of prioritizing public safety by arresting and removing illegal alien threats to our neighbors."

It is noted that De Leon-Barrios entered the United States at an unspecified time and location, evading inspection, admission, or parole by U.S. immigration officials. The Revere Police Department initially arrested him on January 27, pressing charges for assault and battery on a family member and assault and battery on a child with injury.

Following his release from local custody, ICE Boston officers took De Leon-Barrios into ICE custody, where he remains. The public is encouraged to report crimes and suspicious activities by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or by completing an online tip form.
