San Angelo man sentenced to 50 years for producing child pornography

A San Angelo man, 57-year-old James Wilson, was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to production and transportation of child pornography. Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Chad E. Meacham, announced the sentencing, which took place on Tuesday.

Wilson was indicted in September and entered a guilty plea in December 2024. U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix imposed a 600-month sentence and ordered Wilson to pay $106,500 in restitution.

Court documents reveal that Wilson convinced a 9-year-old girl to create at least two videos of sexually explicit content. He used a social media application to distribute multiple videos of such material across the internet and admitted to possessing and sharing a video featuring a 10-year-old girl engaging in explicit conduct.

Wilson confessed to law enforcement that he had been viewing and downloading child pornography for several years. His collection included videos from various known child pornography series, leading to restitution requests from minor victims in 13 of those series. The court awarded $106,500 to the victims for the trauma they experienced.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI's Dallas Field Division – San Angelo Resident Agency and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Whitney Ohlhausen prosecuted the case.
