Brendan Kaleb Rains, a 26-year-old resident from Ada, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to cause bodily harm, and an additional 60 months for assault resulting in serious bodily injury. As announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, these prison terms will be served concurrently.
The case originated from an investigation conducted by the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. On August 29, 2023, Rains and two others reportedly forced entry into a residence in Stonewall, Oklahoma. During the confrontation, Rains attacked an occupant with a club, inflicting serious bodily harm. This incident took place within the Chickasaw Nation Reservation in Pontotoc County, located within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Rains pleaded guilty to the charges on June 11, 2024. The sentencing hearing was overseen by the Honorable John F. Heil, III, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Rains will be held in custody by the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a designated facility by the United States Bureau of Prisons to serve his sentence, which is not eligible for parole.
