Jonathan D. Ross U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas
Dezstiny Collins has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for perjury. This decision was announced by Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas. United States District Judge Brian S. Miller delivered the sentence on April 10, 2025.
Collins, 29, from Pine Bluff, was indicted on August 3, 2022, for making false declarations before a grand jury. She pleaded guilty to the charge of perjury on December 5, 2024. Her false testimony was connected to a federal investigation concerning ammunition possession by convicted felons during a shooting and homicide in Pine Bluff. Despite being shown surveillance footage confirming her presence with the suspects on February 26, 2019, Collins denied the association during her testimony.
Collins admitted to providing false testimony during the grand jury proceedings at her change of plea hearing. In addition to her prison sentence, Judge Miller ordered Collins to undergo three years of supervised release. It's noted that parole is not available under the federal system.
The investigation was undertaken by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with the FBI and Pine Bluff Police Department's support. Assistant United States Attorney Amanda Fields prosecuted the case in the Eastern District of Arkansas.
