The United States has expressed its support for a statement by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) that condemns actions aimed at destabilizing Haiti's Transitional Presidential Council. This comes after discussions involving U.S. Secretary and Deputy Secretary of State with Prime Minister of Barbados and Chairman of CARICOM, Mia Mottley.
The U.S. is backing efforts by a Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission, along with CARICOM, to assist the Haitian government in establishing peace and stability against armed criminal gangs. In their continuing efforts, the United States is consulting with government counterparts in the region.
