The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced an array of new presidential appointments on April 14, 2025. These appointments, as stated by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, aim to reinforce President Trump’s America First agenda. The new appointees include individuals with diverse backgrounds and significant contributions in various sectors related to agriculture and policy. Bailey Archey has been named Policy Advisor in the Marketing and Regulatory Programs, where she will focus on Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issues. Kelsey Barnes, taking the role of Senior Advisor to the Secretary, will oversee Rural Development, Biofuels, and research-oriented programs.
Bill Beam is appointed as the Administrator for the Farm Service Agency, while Aubrey Bettencourt will serve as the Chief of the Natural Resource Conservation Service. The chief of staff roles for Marketing and Regulatory Programs and Food Safety will be filled by Jordan Bonfitto and Trey Forsyth, respectively.
Dr. Jaye L. Hamby will direct the National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Seth W. Christensen steps into the role of Director of Communications, and Tucker Stewart joins as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations.
Other notable appointments include Natalie Ihrman as Press Secretary, Dr. Alveda King as Senior Advisor on Faith and Community Outreach, and T.W. Shannon as Senior Advisor to the Secretary for Rural Prosperity.
