U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), along with partners from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service, and the Virginia State Police, have apprehended a Honduran national who was illegally residing in the United States. The individual, Marvin Mateo-Alberto, aged 25, was detained in Falls Church, Virginia on April 10. He faces charges related to incest and aggravated sexual battery involving a minor aged between 13 and 17.
“Marvin Mateo-Alberto stands accused of some very appalling and disturbing crimes and represents a threat to the children of our Virginia communities,” stated Russell Hott, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Washington, D.C. Field Office Director. Hott emphasized the commitment of ICE Washington, D.C. to public safety by removing criminal threats, expressing concern over Mateo-Alberto's potential threat to other children.
Mateo-Alberto had initially entered the United States illegally on October 17, 2005, near Eagle Pass, Texas, where he was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol. Subsequently, he was issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge from the Justice Department. The judge ordered his removal from the United States to Honduras on April 5, 2006.
However, Mateo-Alberto was arrested again on January 1 by officers from the Fairfax County Police Department on charges of incest and aggravated sexual battery. ICE placed an immigration detainer on him at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Despite this, the detainer was not honored, and Mateo-Alberto was released on January 16.
Authorities from ICE, the ATF, the DSS, and the Virginia State Police rearrested Mateo-Alberto on April 10 in Herndon, Virginia. He is currently in ICE custody.
