Matthew R. Molsen United States Attorney for the District of Nebraska | U.S. Attorney for the District of Nebraska
Narciso Maciel, a 25-year-old from Moses Lake, Washington, has been sentenced to 150 months in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation. This announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Matthew R. Molsen, with the sentencing carried out by United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher in Omaha, Nebraska. Following his incarceration, Maciel will be subject to a three-year term of supervised release, as there is no parole in the federal system.
The case against Maciel stemmed from a series of drug transactions and a search of his rented Airbnb in Omaha, Nebraska. The investigation conducted by law enforcement included controlled purchases of approximately two pounds of methamphetamine from Maciel on September 5 and October 26, 2023. A subsequent search on November 2, 2023, led to the seizure of over eight pounds of methamphetamine, along with drug packaging materials, shipping labels, receipts for money wires to Mexico, and over $10,000 in cash. The seized currency has been forfeited to the United States.
The Drug Enforcement Administration spearheaded the investigation as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation. OCDETF's mission is to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the most significant criminal organizations threatening the United States. The approach is prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, and involves multiple agencies. More details about the OCDETF program can be found on their official website.
