A Duxbury resident, Daniel Debreczeni, age 34, has been arrested on charges related to the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Authorities apprehended Debreczeni at his workplace, and he subsequently appeared in federal court in Boston. He remains in custody, with a detention hearing scheduled for April 23, 2025.
As per the charging documents, between November 29, 2023, and December 12, 2023, Debreczeni is accused of distributing three videos depicting child pornography via a file-sharing site. The videos reportedly featured children aged between two and eight years.
The charge of distributing child pornography carries potential penalties ranging from a minimum of five years to a maximum of 20 years in prison, alongside supervised release extending from five years to life and a possible fine of $250,000. Sentence determinations are made by a federal district court judge guided by the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and related statutes.
The announcement of Debreczeni's arrest was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and James Crowley, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Boston Division. Support in the investigation was provided by the Massachusetts State Police as well as the Duxbury and Quincy Police Departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Tobin from the Major Crimes Unit is managing the prosecution.
This legal action is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative established by the Department of Justice in May 2006. The program aims to address the rise in child sexual exploitation and abuse by mobilizing resources from federal, state, and local entities to locate, apprehend, and prosecute offenders, and also to identify and assist victims. Additional information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at https://www.justice.gov/psc.
It is crucial to note that the accusations as outlined in the charging documents remain allegations. Debreczeni, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
