Jovonne Haynes, a 30-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, has been sentenced to 13 months in federal prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking operation. The operation spanned from Michigan to Monongalia County, West Virginia. Court documents and statements disclosed that Haynes permitted his apartment in Morgantown to be used for the operation. He pled guilty to a methamphetamine distribution charge in December 2024.
After completing his prison term, Haynes will be subject to three years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley on behalf of the government.
The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the DEA and FBI in Clarksburg, the Mon Metro Drug Task Force, the West Virginia State Police, and local law enforcement from Monongalia County and Morgantown. Additionally, the DEA's Cincinnati District Office and Detroit Field Division, as well as the FBI Detroit, contributed to the investigation.
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh oversaw the proceedings.
