Secretary of the Treasury Scott K.H. Bessent has joined with the ABA Foundation to support their annual Teach Children to Save Program. A video message from Secretary Bessent will be shown as part of Teach Children to Save Day, which is observed on April 24. The message will be used in financial education presentations aimed at students from kindergarten through eighth grade across the United States.

In the video, Secretary Bessent emphasizes the importance of financial literacy, stating: “Whether it’s saving for a rainy day early or educating yourself on the many tools available for you to start investing and building wealth – it’s extremely important for your future. And that’s why programs like Teach Children to Save are so important—they help set you on the path to financial independence."

The Teach Children to Save campaign is a significant component of the banking industry's dedication to fostering youth financial education. The program sees volunteer bankers provide financial lessons through community events, virtual presentations, social media activities, and resources available at bank branches.

ABA President and CEO Rob Nichols expressed appreciation for Secretary Bessent's involvement: “We deeply appreciate Secretary Bessent's strong support of this year's Teach Children to Save program. By adding his voice to the banker-led presentations this year, students and teachers will recognize the Treasury Department's commitment to financial education. Secretary Bessent's engagement will make this year's Teach Children to Save presentations even more memorable and effective."
