Freddie Anthony Curry, a 54-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, pleaded guilty in federal court on charges related to fentanyl and cocaine possession with intent to distribute. The guilty plea was announced by U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, Kelly O. Hayes, along with Special Agent in Charge William DelBagno of the FBI's Baltimore Field Office, Special Agent in Charge Ibrar A. Mian of the DEA's Washington Division, and Postal Inspector in Charge Damon Wood of the USPIS's Washington Division.
The investigation into Curry started in May 2024, led by the FBI and DEA, focusing on suspected drug trafficking activities in Baltimore. During the investigation, both Curry's residence and vehicle were identified and searched under federal warrants. This search yielded approximately 980 grams of fentanyl, 1,040 grams of cocaine, scales, drug-packaging materials, and a Glock 19 handgun. Curry is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm because of prior felony convictions.
The plea agreement, if accepted by the Court, stipulates a 120-month federal prison sentence for Curry. Sentencing is scheduled for June 30, 2025, at 2 p.m.
This case is linked to Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and make communities safer. The Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy in May 2021 to enhance PSN, with goals of fostering community trust, supporting prevention-focused organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
Furthermore, the case is part of a Strike Force Initiative, which involves a collaborative multi-agency effort to combat significant crime networks, including drug traffickers and gangs. The Baltimore Strike Force seeks to tackle drug trafficking and related violence in the region, incorporating various federal and local law enforcement agencies.
U.S. Attorney Hayes praised the FBI, DEA, and USPIS for their investigative work and extended thanks to Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Simpkins, who is handling the prosecution.
