On Friday, Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Troy Edgar participated in a warrant operation in Los Angeles, led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which concluded with the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker. The operation involved the execution of three state search warrants in La Puente, Pomona, and Compton, all part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activities related to cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
The suspect, Pedro Sainz Minjarez, was apprehended on charges related to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and conspiracy. The investigation is a collaborative effort involving the Riverside Sheriff’s Office, United States Customs and Border Protection, and the United States Marshals Service.
Deputy Secretary Edgar expressed his appreciation for the work done by HSI agents, stating, "Day in and day out, our HSI agents are empowered under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem to remove gang members, criminals, and drugs from our communities. I’m thankful for the frontline heroes who keep Americans safe from the worst of the worst law breakers."
In addition to the operation, Deputy Secretary Edgar also led a meeting in Los Angeles with various partners to discuss law enforcement priorities under President Trump’s administration. The partnership known as the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) includes significant cooperation between the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice to address crime and safety issues.
The meeting participants included representatives from several agencies, such as HSI Los Angeles, Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the U.S. Attorney's office.
