Mexican national sentenced to 41 months for fentanyl distribution

Adrian Lopez-Aparicio, a 40-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to 41 months in prison. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Scott H. Rash on April 24, 2025. Lopez-Aparicio had previously pleaded guilty to the charge of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

On October 3, 2024, Lopez-Aparicio was found in possession of 20,000 fentanyl pills in Tucson, Arizona. The pills were intended for sale and distribution. Following this discovery, a federal grand jury returned a three-count indictment against Lopez-Aparicio. The charges included possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, conspiring with others to distribute fentanyl, and illegal reentry of a removed alien.

The investigation leading to Lopez-Aparicio's arrest was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Cavanaugh from the District of Arizona, Tucson.
