U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out the arrest of Noel Hernandez Leon, a 50-year-old man from Mexico, on April 17. Hernandez was detained following his release from the New York Department of Corrections and Community Supervision at Fishkill Correctional Facility, located in Beacon, New York.
Hernandez entered the United States illegally, at an unknown date and location, without being granted admission or parole by an immigration official. He was convicted by the Kings County Supreme Court in Brooklyn on December 11, 1996, for first and second-degree murder and first-degree robbery. The court sentenced him to 20 years to life in prison. An immigration judge ordered his removal from the United States on May 26, 1999.
Hernandez is currently being held at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York, as he awaits deportation to Mexico.
