Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, has announced charges against Stanlin Daniel Vasquez-Salinas, also known as “Stalin Vasquez-Salinas” and “Stalin Vasquez.” The 25-year-old Ecuadorian national, who has been residing in Danbury, is charged with the unlawful reentry of a removed alien.

Court documents and statements reveal that on March 11, 2025, Danbury Police arrested Vasquez-Salinas on charges of conspiracy to commit commercial sexual abuse of a minor aged 15 to 17. He identified himself as “Stalin D. Vasquez” upon his arrest. Fingerprint analysis confirmed his actual identity. Authorities discovered that he had entered the U.S. illegally in December 2019, was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol in Texas, and removed to Ecuador in May 2020.

Further allegations state that on March 14, 2025, after being released on bond from state custody, Vasquez-Salinas was captured by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following a brief vehicle and foot chase. Since March 14, Vasquez-Salinas has remained jailed and appeared in Hartford federal court. The charge he faces carries a potential maximum imprisonment term of two years.

“Charges are only allegations and each defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” emphasized Acting U.S. Attorney Silverman.

The investigation is being led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, aided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Neeraj N. Patel is prosecuting the case. Silverman expressed gratitude to the State’s Attorney’s Office for the Judicial District of Danbury for their cooperation.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a national Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations to protect communities from violent crime. The operation involves resources from the Department's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
