U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer recently visited California’s Central Valley to acknowledge President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office. The visit aimed to meet local businesses benefitting from the Administration's "America First" policies. Secretary Chavez-DeRemer was joined by Rep. Vince Fong during a workforce development roundtable and a tour of California Resources Corporation’s energy facilities.
“It was great to celebrate President Trump’s first 100 days near the community I grew up in California’s Central Valley,” Secretary Chavez-DeRemer stated. She highlighted the region’s role in economic development, mentioning demand-focused job training and energy security. “I appreciate Congressman Fong for hosting me as I continue hearing the stories of America at Work.”
Rep. Vince Fong expressed gratitude for hosting Chavez-DeRemer, emphasizing her understanding of the Central Valley’s economic importance. “She understands firsthand our region’s vital role as the economic engine of California, and I look forward to working closely with her to advance policies that strengthen our local economy and create more opportunities for the hardworking people of the Central Valley,” he said.
Their visit featured a roundtable with the Fresno Economic Development Corporation. The corporation’s program, Good Jobs 4 the Central Valley, collaborates with organizations to place 2,500 individuals in high-quality jobs through demand-focused programming.
In Bakersfield, Secretary Chavez-DeRemer and Congressman Fong attended an educational tour led by California Resources Corporation (CRC). The tour provided insights into local energy facilities and upcoming projects, which are important for America’s energy independence.
