Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and Senior Advisor, Sean Parnell, has emphasized the achievements of the Department of Defense in the first 100 days of the current administration.

Parnell stated: “From day one, our overriding objectives have been clear: restoring the warrior ethos, rebuilding our military, and reestablishing deterrence. In 100 Days, the Department of Defense and our warfighters have delivered historic victories for the American people."

Key achievements include a notable boost in military recruiting, with post-November 5, 2024 data indicating the highest recruiting success in 30 years. Efforts to secure the southwest border involved deploying approximately 11,900 troops and achieving a significant reduction in border crossings in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security.

Reforms within the department targeted the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, replacing them with merit-based, color-blind policies, and other changes focused on strengthening operational capacity. Parnell highlighted: “Created the ‘Restore America's Fighting Force’ Task Force to oversee the Department’s efforts to abolish DEI and implement merit-based, color-blind policies."

International initiatives are addressing threats in regions such as the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East. This includes agreements with the Philippines and ongoing operations in Yemen to combat Houthi influences. Additionally, there have been shifts in military structures and spending involving international allies.

Efforts were also made to reassess and optimize defense spending, leading to potential savings. The first phase of upgrading U.S. Forces Japan to a joint force headquarters was initiated to deter the Chinese Communist Party. Navy elements like the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group were deployed to enhance U.S. Central Command operations.

In summary, the initial 100 days of the Department of Defense have been marked by significant strategic and tactical developments aimed at strengthening U.S. military capacities and international alliances.
