AIA supports defense acquisition reform efforts by Trump Administration

Arlington, Va. – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has expressed support for President Trump's recent Executive Order, which instructs the Secretary of Defense to devise a plan for reforming the defense acquisition system and reviewing Major Defense Acquisition Programs.

Eric Fanning, AIA President and CEO, said, "Amid a threat environment that demands we move fast and increase capacity, the Aerospace Industries Association welcomes the Trump Administration’s commitment to revitalizing the Pentagon’s acquisition process." He emphasized the importance of quickly delivering mission-critical systems and transformational capabilities to military personnel as an effective deterrent against adversaries.

Fanning also highlighted the industry's shared priority with the administration in maximizing taxpayer value. "As these reviews progress, we look forward to working with the administration to make much-needed improvements that will optimize the system for all stakeholders," he said. Fanning urged against lengthy reviews that could delay equipping troops.
