Rachel C. Hernandez Acting United States Attorney for the District of Arizona | U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona

Alan Xavier Cabrera, a 27-year-old Mexican national, was arrested on April 25, 2025, and charged with possession of child pornography. Cabrera's arrest occurred at the port of entry in San Luis, Arizona, where he was applying for entry into the United States on a B1/B2 travel visa.

The criminal complaint states that during his attempt to enter the U.S., agents examined Cabrera's cell phone due to suspicious behavior. They found numerous images of child pornography, officially known as Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), on his device. The images and videos reportedly involved minors under ten years old in sexual acts with adult males.

If convicted of possession of child pornography, Cabrera could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both, and a term of supervised release for life.

It is important to note that a criminal complaint is an accusation and does not imply guilt. Cabrera is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a jury.

The investigation is being conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, Phoenix, is managing the prosecution.
