U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken Ecuadorian national Marcia Lorena Bueno Guartatanga into custody on May 1 in New York City. The 38-year-old, who entered the United States without proper admission or parole, was arrested for her involvement in facilitating the sexual abuse of her daughter by her husband.

Bueno's criminal history includes convictions for acting in a manner that injured a child and hindering prosecution. She was sentenced to 95 days in prison followed by three years of probation after being convicted on October 8, 2022, in White Plains.

"Whether a perpetrator, conspirator or facilitator — depraved, predatory actions against children should not be tolerated by the public and will not be tolerated by this field office," stated ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations New York City acting Field Office Director William P. Joyce. "What makes this situation even more unfathomable is the mother’s role in the victimization of her daughter."

The arrest took place during a targeted operation conducted by ICE Fugitive Operations officers in Cortlandt. Bueno was apprehended without incident under a warrant for violating the Immigration and Nationality Act. She is currently detained by ICE as she awaits removal proceedings.
