ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Tucson Sector arrested a U.S. citizen and two Mexican nationals following a high-speed chase near Three Points, Arizona, on Sunday. The incident began when a Land Rover failed to stop at the state Route 286 immigration checkpoint.

The vehicle was located by an aircraft from U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations as it traveled northbound at high speed. Agents coordinated their pursuit with the help of this aerial support.

Despite attempts by agents on the ground using lights and sirens to stop the vehicle, the driver continued to flee, weaving through traffic and posing a danger to others. Spike strips were deployed but did not stop the vehicle until it crashed into another car. All three occupants fled on foot but were soon apprehended.

The driver, identified as a U.S. citizen with an extensive criminal record, faces federal charges for human smuggling, fleeing law enforcement, and endangering lives. The two passengers, both Mexican nationals—one juvenile and one adult—are being processed for unlawful entry into the United States. The adult passenger also has a significant criminal history.

This event highlights the risks associated with human smuggling and underscores ongoing efforts by Border Patrol agents to secure borders and ensure public safety.
