Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and Anish Shukla, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the New Haven Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced that a federal grand jury in New Haven has returned a 13-count indictment against Ameer Nasir, 24, from Trumbull. The charges relate to an alleged fraud scheme against Amazon.com, Inc.

The indictment was issued on May 7, 2025. Nasir was arrested and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge S. Dave Vatti in Bridgeport before being released on a $300,000 bond.

According to the indictment, Amazon Logistics contracts with various interstate trucking businesses for transporting trailers between cities and Amazon facilities. Nasir registered 23 trucking businesses with Amazon Logistics; one account was under his business Pak Express Transport, LLC, while others were created using information from other companies without their knowledge. From December 2019 to February 2021, Nasir allegedly used these accounts to accept over 1,000 transportation assignments and manipulated Amazon's system to falsely claim completion of trailer movements. He then submitted fraudulent invoices that resulted in payments from Amazon Logistics totaling more than $3 million.

Nasir faces charges of wire fraud across 13 counts, each carrying a maximum penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment.

Acting U.S. Attorney Silverman emphasized that an indictment is not proof of guilt: "Charges are only allegations," he stated. "A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt."

The investigation is being conducted by the FBI with assistance from Amazon and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elena L. Coronado.
