Miami-Dade transit supervisor pleads guilty in bribery case involving contractor

Hayden O’Byrne United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida | The Florida Bar

Miami-Dade Transit Supervisor Dale Robinson, his wife Marcia Robinson, and contractor Jessie Bledsoe have pled guilty to federal charges related to bribery. Dale Robinson admitted to soliciting a bribe from Bledsoe for Metrorail repair and maintenance contracts. Marcia Robinson pled guilty to misprision of a felony for assisting in covering up the bribery. Jessie Bledsoe admitted to paying the bribe.

Dale Robinson was responsible for recommending contractors for Metrorail track maintenance and overseeing their work. He requested a bribe from Bledsoe in January 2021 while JB Railroad Contracting, Inc., co-owned by Bledsoe, was seeking additional contracts with Miami-Dade Transit.

To facilitate the bribe payment, Dale Robinson instructed Marcia Robinson to create Tailored Railroads & Consulting LLC and open a checking account. This company was used to disguise payments as legitimate business transactions between February 2021 and March 2022. Four checks totaling approximately $75,956 were issued by JB Railroad to Tailored Railroads without any goods or services being provided.

Marcia Robinson knew these funds were intended for her husband's benefit but did not report it, helping conceal the criminal activity. Tailored Railroads engaged in no other activities and was eventually dissolved by Maryland authorities.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 10, 2025, for Dale and Marcia Robinson before U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore in Miami. Dale faces up to 10 years in prison; Marcia faces up to three years. Jessie Bledsoe's sentencing is set for August 1, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom in Miami with a possible maximum sentence of up to 10 years.

The guilty pleas were announced by U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida, FBI Special Agent Brett Skiles, and Inspector General Felix Jimenez of MDC-OIG.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward N. Stamm is prosecuting both cases with Assistant U.S. Attorney Marx Calderon handling forfeiture matters.
