Four Mexican nationals have been charged in an international smuggling conspiracy that allegedly brought migrants from Canada into the United States for profit. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) led the investigation, which resulted in charges against Edgar Sanchez-Solis, Ignacio Diaz-Perez, Samuel Diaz-Perez, and Salvador Diaz-Diaz.

The defendants face charges of conspiracy to bring aliens into the United States and 25 counts of bringing aliens illegally for profit. They were arrested at various locations across the country and are currently detained. Two of them had previously been removed from the U.S.

Erin Keegan, ICE Homeland Security Investigations Buffalo Special Agent in Charge, stated: “These individuals acted in blatant disregard of our nation’s laws, allegedly smuggling hundreds of aliens into the United States for thousands of dollars each.” She highlighted that their actions included dangerous vehicle chases with law enforcement.

Matthew R. Galeotti from the Justice Department’s Criminal Division said: “As alleged, these defendants illegally entered this country and then sought to smuggle hundreds of aliens per week to the United States from Mexico, Central America, and South America through the Canadian border.”

Court documents allege that over two years, the defendants operated as part of a smuggling organization moving people through Mexico, Canada, and into northern New York. The operation reportedly involved high-speed chases with law enforcement on several occasions.

U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III commented: “This case demonstrates our relentless efforts to secure our northern border against criminal organizations profiting from human smuggling.” Chief Patrol Agent Robert N. Garcia emphasized that those attempting illegal entry or trafficking will face severe consequences.

The investigative efforts were led by HSI Rouses Point and U.S. Border Patrol Burke Station with assistance from other agencies.

An indictment is merely an allegation; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
