Carver man receives over two-year sentence for oxycodone conspiracy

A Carver man, Michael Atwood, has been sentenced in a Boston federal court for his role in an oxycodone conspiracy. U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper handed down a 35-month prison sentence, followed by three years of supervised release. In November 2024, Atwood pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute oxycodone pills.

Atwood was indicted in August 2023 along with five co-conspirators. Between November 2023 and June 2023, he obtained significant quantities of oxycodone from co-defendant John Campbell for redistribution. During a search of Atwood's residence on July 12, 2023, authorities seized approximately $63,000 in cash.

John Campbell received a four-year prison sentence in January 2025, also followed by three years of supervised release.

The case announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Stephen Belleau, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration's New England Field Division; Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble of the Massachusetts State Police; Thomas Demeo from the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation's Boston Field Office; and Ketty Larco-Ward from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Boston Division.

Special assistance came from various law enforcement agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and local police departments across Barnstable County. The prosecution team included Assistant U.S. Attorneys John T. Mulcahy and Samuel R. Feldman from the Criminal Division as well as Alexandra Amrhein from the Asset Forfeiture Unit.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations through coordinated efforts among multiple agencies.
