Since President Donald Trump assumed office, the U.S. Border Patrol has experienced a significant rise in interest, marking the most successful recruitment period in the agency's history. January saw the highest number of applicants since the agency was established.

Between January and April 2025, the U.S. Border Patrol received 34,650 applications, reflecting a 44% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This surge is attributed to renewed national focus on border security under President Trump's leadership, along with efforts by the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

"The continued surge in applications speaks volumes about the pride and purpose Americans see in joining the U.S. Border Patrol," said U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks. "We thank President Trump and Secretary Noem for their leadership and commitment to strengthening our workforce and mission readiness."

The increase in applicants highlights public confidence in the administration's enforcement priorities and reflects a sense of duty among Americans to protect their homeland.

Enhanced outreach, targeted hiring incentives, and interest from veterans and law enforcement professionals have also contributed to recruitment gains. Securing the border remains a top priority for this administration.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) serves as America's frontline, being the largest law enforcement organization in the nation and a unified border management agency globally. The CBP workforce of over 65,000 individuals safeguards America on land, air, and sea while facilitating safe travel and trade to ensure economic prosperity. The agency enhances national security through innovation, intelligence, collaboration, and trust.
