Brandi McCoy, a 48-year-old resident of York County, has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison. The sentence comes after her involvement in a conspiracy to make false statements to a bank was revealed.
Investigations showed that McCoy operated a daycare in South Carolina and conspired with others between June 2020 and April 2022. They made false statements to banks to secure loans under the Paycheck Protection Program and sought loan forgiveness by submitting further falsified information. These misstatements included inflated figures about the daycare's staff size, salaries paid, and expenses incurred. This led to over $1 million in loans being approved.
United States District Senior Court Judge Joseph F. Anderson, Jr. sentenced McCoy to imprisonment followed by three years of court-ordered supervision. McCoy is also required to pay restitution to the Small Business Administration.
