House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer has announced the continuation of an investigation into alleged cover-ups concerning President Biden's mental health and use of autopen. Last Congress, Comer subpoenaed three White House aides—Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, and Ashley Williams—and requested a transcribed interview with Biden's physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor. The White House did not comply with these requests.
Comer also sought audio recordings from Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents. However, Attorney General Merrick Garland did not honor the subpoena.
"The American people deserve to know who was actually calling the shots in the Biden White House, because it wasn’t Joe Biden," said Comer. He claimed that the administration and others misled the public about Biden's cognitive abilities.
"This is one of the greatest scandals of our generation and Americans are demanding answers," he continued. "Last Congress, we launched an investigation... but we were met with obstruction by the Biden White House."
Comer stated there are concerns regarding decisions made during the final days of Biden's presidency, particularly those involving autopens for issuing pardons. "The American people are done being lied to," he asserted.
Comer emphasized that starting next week, individuals involved in what he calls a cover-up will be notified as part of this ongoing inquiry.
