The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has expanded its legal action against the Growth Cave business opportunity and credit repair scheme by filing an amended complaint. This new filing introduces two additional defendants based on information obtained since the original case was initiated.
LLT Research is now named as a defendant, accused of being the corporate structure behind PassiveApps, a product launched by Lucas Lee-Tyson in 2024. Additionally, Friendly Solar, Inc. has been added as a relief defendant. The FTC alleges this entity functioned as a shell company for one of the individual defendant's earnings without providing any services for the assets it received.
The FTC originally sued Growth Cave in February 2025, claiming that the operation misled consumers with false promises of significant income, resulting in nearly $50 million being taken from them. A federal court responded with a temporary restraining order to freeze the defendants' funds and halt operations while proceedings continue.
According to the FTC's complaint, Growth Cave operated various business opportunities that consistently failed to deliver promised income while costing consumers substantial amounts of money.
The decision to file the amended complaint was unanimously approved by a 3-0 vote from the Commission. The case is being handled in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
"The Commission files a complaint when it has 'reason to believe' that the named defendants are violating or are about to violate the law and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest," states an FTC note. The outcome will be determined by the court.
Maris Snell and Adrienne Jenkins from the FTC’s East Central Region, along with Miles Freeman from its Western Region Los Angeles office, are leading this legal effort.
The Federal Trade Commission's mission includes promoting competition and protecting consumers through education and enforcement actions. They remind individuals never to transfer money based on threats or promises of prizes and encourage reporting fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
