A Mexican national, Cristian Alberto Nunez-Hipolito, has been sentenced to 17 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for illegally reentering the United States after being deported twice before. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Cristina D. Silva.

Court documents reveal that Nunez-Hipolito was located by immigration officials on September 29, 2024. He had previously been deported around September 17, 2018, and January 10, 2020. He entered ICE custody on September 30, 2024, from the Clark County Detention Center following an arrest by state law enforcement on unrelated charges.

Nunez-Hipolito admitted guilt to one count of Deported Alien Found in the United States. This marks his second conviction for this offense; he was convicted in 2019 in the Southern District of Arizona for a similar crime. Additionally, he holds a robbery conviction from 2017 issued by the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Salt Lake City Field Office Director Michael Bernacke.

The case investigation was conducted by ICE's Salt Lake City Las Vegas Sub-Office and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
