David Anderson Jr., a 34-year-old resident of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for possessing methamphetamine intended for distribution. This sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson in Madison, Wisconsin. Following his prison term, Anderson will also undergo seven and a half years of supervised release.
The sentencing follows Anderson's guilty plea to the charge earlier today. The case against him stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.
In April 2024, law enforcement officials utilized a confidential informant to conduct two controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Anderson. Subsequently, a search of Anderson's home resulted in the seizure of over 200 grams of methamphetamine that had been prepackaged for distribution in various quantities.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Peterson highlighted the gravity of Anderson's offense while also considering his criminal history and challenging upbringing alongside periods when he adhered to the law.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis Glinzak prosecuted the case.
