Omro man indicted for alleged distribution and receipt of child pornography

Richard G. Frohling, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, announced that a federal indictment was returned on May 20, 2025, against Jason A. Reeves of Omro, Wisconsin. The indictment alleges that Reeves distributed child pornography in October 2024 and received it on two occasions in April 2025. These actions are violations of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252A(a)(2)(A).

The investigation began with a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which was forwarded to the Wisconsin Department of Justice and then to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office based on an associated IP address. The tip concerned the distribution of child pornography on October 16, 2024. Following further investigation, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Reeves’ residence on April 29, 2025. When questioned about child pornography at his home, Reeves reportedly responded “probably.” According to court documents, Reeves is employed as an Alderman in the City of Omro.

If convicted of any charges, Reeves faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to twenty years in prison per count. He could also face fines up to $250,000 per count and would be required to register as a sexual offender under state and federal law.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the U.S. Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative coordinates federal, state, and local resources to apprehend individuals who exploit children online and rescue victims.

The investigation was conducted by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and the Green Bay Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Daniel R. Humble will prosecute the case.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely a charge and not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a fair trial.
