Oregon man convicted for threatening pastor in Alabama

According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Richard Colvin was convicted of transmitting an interstate threat to kill a pastor in Mobile, Alabama. The jury was presented with evidence that Colvin repeatedly called the church, berated the pastor and the church, and ultimately threatened the pastor's life.

The victim testified about receiving these calls and the threat made against him. He, along with other witnesses, described the precautions taken following Colvin's threat and the fear it instilled. An FBI case agent provided testimony regarding the ongoing investigation into the threat to life and evidence obtained from phone records.

Colvin could face up to five years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for August 21, 2025, by U.S. District Judge Terry F. Moorer.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama. The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica S. Terrill and Tandice H. Blackwood prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
