A Wolf Point man has admitted to charges of sexual abuse involving two victims, according to U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme. Jason Wise Spirit, 44, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse and now faces a potential life sentence, a $250,000 fine, and five years to a lifetime of supervised release.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris is set to determine the sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. The sentencing is scheduled for October 2, 2025. Wise Spirit remains detained pending further proceedings.
Court documents reveal that on November 15, 2023, a victim identified as Jane Doe 1 became emotional in class and alleged that Wise Spirit had sexually abused her older sister, Jane Doe 2. Following an FBI investigation initiated on November 20, 2023, Jane Doe 1 claimed she was sexually assaulted by Wise Spirit over twenty times between the ages of six and nine on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
Jane Doe 1 described incidents of vaginal, anal, and oral sex occurring while her mother was at work and also stated that Jane Doe 2 experienced similar abuse.
Although initially denying any abuse during her first interview, Jane Doe 2 later disclosed in April 2024 that she feared Wise Spirit due to threats against her life if she spoke out about the abuse. She detailed being forced into sexual acts both at their residence and in a car parked at a Walmart in Williston while their mother worked.
Wise Spirit's interview led to partial admissions where he acknowledged instances involving both Jane Does touching his penis.
The prosecution was managed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with investigative efforts from the FBI.
