Clinton J. Johnson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma
A federal jury in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has convicted Ryan Duke Haight, 45, of sexually abusing a minor and engaging in abusive sexual contact with two minors in Indian Country. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
During the trial, the jury heard testimonies from the two minor victims, aged 14 and 15 at the time of the offenses, along with other witnesses. Evidence presented revealed that Haight began making inappropriate sexual comments to the 14-year-old victim during the summer of 2023. He also touched her inappropriately under the guise of accidental contact and expressed a preference for certain physical attributes.
The situation escalated in spring 2024 when Haight's inappropriate behavior intensified. On several occasions while driving the victim home, he placed his hand on her leg and touched her beneath her clothing. In July 2024, he offered to give her a massage as a "prize" for winning a bet and subsequently sexually abused her.
In another incident in July 2024 at a Fourth of July party hosted at his home, Haight targeted a second victim who was 15 years old. He reached under her clothing to touch her bra strap and buttocks. He also called her derogatory names after she reacted fearfully to a spider. When questioned during his testimony, Haight admitted using such language but claimed it was an attempt to fit in with teenagers.
Haight remained free on bond while awaiting trial but was taken into custody following his conviction. His sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
The case was investigated by the FBI and Rogers County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stephen Scaife and Kate Brandon.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local resources.
