Mayville man sentenced to life for sex trafficking minors

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced the life imprisonment of William A. Quinones, 51, from Mayville, NY. Convicted by a federal jury for transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and sex trafficking of a minor, Quinones was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Aaron J. Mango and Franz M. Wright prosecuted the case. They reported that in July 2021, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office received allegations of Quinones sexually abusing two children over eight years, leading to an investigation identifying four minor victims in total.

The victims disclosed to investigators that Quinones raped or attempted rape and sexually abused them while threatening violence against them or their families if they spoke out. One victim described regular sexual contact starting at age eight and continued until she was sixteen, during which Quinones paid her for sexual contact from age thirteen onwards.

On one occasion, he took this victim to Erie, PA, purportedly to pick up drugs but stopped at a motel for sexual intercourse before returning home. The victim recounted repeated instances of rape and physical abuse during these encounters.

The sentencing followed an investigation conducted by Homeland Security Investigations led by Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff James Quattrone's direction.
