CBP introduces new Ready Lanes at Calexico West Port of Entry

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have announced the introduction of passenger vehicle Ready Lanes at the Calexico West Port of Entry. This initiative will be effective starting Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 12 a.m. Pacific Time.

Travelers can use these lanes if they possess a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-compliant document. It is important to distinguish that state-issued REAL IDs are not equivalent to Enhanced Driver’s Licenses and do not qualify as Ready Lane compliant documents.

Mexican authorities will facilitate a dedicated lane via Mexicali for travelers eligible for the Ready Lanes to access the Calexico West Port of Entry. Upon reaching the U.S. border, travelers must proceed through the existing general traffic access point where signage will direct them to appropriate inspection booths. Those with RFID-enabled documents may choose between Ready Lanes or general processing lanes but cannot use SETNRI lanes unless enrolled in CBP’s Trusted Traveler Program with a valid TTP document.

Eligible travelers are advised to save time by using designated Ready Lanes, keeping their travel cards ready, and presenting them to in-lane RFID card readers before proceeding to a CBP officer at the primary inspection booth.

The public can check vehicle wait times on CBP's Border Wait Times website or download the mobile application for real-time updates. Wait times are refreshed hourly.

Travelers should review the Know Before You Go section on CBP’s website to avoid penalties related to prohibited items' importation. Brochures are also available at land border ports of entry.

CBP is recognized as America's frontline: it is the nation's largest law enforcement organization and the first unified border management agency globally. The over 65,000 men and women of CBP safeguard America across land, air, and sea domains while facilitating safe travel and trade and ensuring economic prosperity through innovation and collaboration.
