The Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz has announced the release of the DOJ Office of the Inspector General’s (OIG) semiannual report to Congress, covering the period from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. This report is mandated by the Inspector General Act of 1978 and provides an overview of the OIG's activities and achievements during these six months.
According to the report, "during this period the DOJ OIG issued 42 reports with 156 recommendations and identified $585,629 in questioned costs." The document also notes that "the OIG closed 102 criminal or administrative misconduct cases," leading to significant outcomes. These include "30 convictions or pleas; 82 terminations, administrative disciplinary actions, and resignations; and nearly $10 million in recoveries."
The semiannual report further contains information about ongoing audits and reviews conducted by the OIG.
