Boston man pleads guilty to child exploitation charges

A Boston man, Kyle Joyner, 40, has admitted guilt in federal court to charges related to child exploitation. He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography. U.S. District Court Judge Denise Casper set the sentencing for September 10, 2025. Joyner faced indictment by a federal grand jury on March 6, 2024.

The offenses occurred between January 3, 2023, and September 17, 2023. During this period, Joyner produced child sexual abuse material involving a minor victim known to him. In October 2023, two cell phones confiscated from Joyner contained over 700 images depicting prepubescent females.

For the charge of sexual exploitation of children, the law mandates a minimum sentence of 15 years and can extend up to 30 years in prison. It also includes lifetime supervised release and a fine that may reach $250,000. The possession charge could lead to up to 20 years in prison with similar conditions for supervised release and fines.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley alongside Kimberly Milka, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Boston Division. The Boston Police Department provided significant assistance in the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Soto is handling the prosecution.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood's scope—a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 aimed at combating child exploitation and abuse through collaboration among federal, state, and local resources.
