Daniela Marie Giancoli, a 35-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, has been sentenced to 150 months in federal prison for her role in distributing fentanyl to dealers in West Virginia. The sentencing took place in Elkins, West Virginia.
Court documents and statements revealed that Giancoli collaborated with Michael Matthews from their Baltimore apartment to supply drugs to over ten dealers in Grant County, West Virginia. The investigation led to the seizure of nearly 9,000 fentanyl pills weighing more than two kilograms.
Following her prison term, Giancoli will undergo three years of supervised release. Her co-defendant Matthews had earlier pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 100 months.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner handled the prosecution for the government. The case was investigated by the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, which is funded by HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas).
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh oversaw the proceedings.
