A St. Louis man has admitted to shooting at an undercover police officer during a drug investigation. Anthony Stallworth, 25, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to charges including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, distribution of fentanyl, and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Stallworth confessed to selling 28 capsules containing fentanyl to an undercover officer on October 10, 2019. Five days later, when the officer attempted another purchase, Stallworth led him on a drive before firing two shots at the officer's vehicle from his Mercedes SUV.
In the summer of 2023, authorities observed Stallworth conducting drug transactions on Wilcox Avenue in St. Louis. A court-approved search of an apartment revealed Stallworth with substantial quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as a firearm and drug paraphernalia.
Stallworth is set for sentencing on September 9 and faces a minimum sentence of 15 years due to mandatory guidelines.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives alongside the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski is leading the prosecution.
This incident falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities.
