Ambridge man sentenced to over 11 years for child exploitation offenses

A former resident of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, Bradley J. Schrott, has been sentenced to a total of 132 months and one day in federal prison. The sentence will be followed by 10 years of supervised release. This was announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer handed down the sentence on June 2, 2025. Schrott received a 120-month sentence for possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor. Additionally, he was given an extra 12 months and one day for violating the terms of his supervised release from an earlier conviction for the same offense.

Court documents revealed that on February 17, 2023, Schrott possessed a video showing the sexual exploitation of a prepubescent minor. At that time, he was serving supervised release following an earlier federal conviction for similar charges, which resulted in a prior sentence of 30 months imprisonment and another period of supervised release.

Before sentencing, Judge Fischer noted Congress's serious stance on repeat sex offenders and urged Schrott to utilize mental health, sex offender, and drug treatment programs during his imprisonment.

Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch prosecuted the case for the government. Acting United States Attorney Rivetti acknowledged the Department of Homeland Security's role in investigating Schrott's case.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, initiated by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The initiative aims to marshal resources across federal, state, and local levels to apprehend offenders and rescue victims. More information can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.
