Oregon woman pleads guilty in New Orleans child sex trafficking case

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Cora Beuving, a 26-year-old from Oregon, has pled guilty to misprision of a felony before United States District Judge Eldon E. Fallon on May 29, 2025. The charge is related to her involvement in the sex trafficking of a minor.

Court documents reveal that in May 2024, two adult men transported a fifteen-year-old girl from Houston, Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana for commercial sex purposes. Beuving was responsible for posting advertisements for commercial sex involving the minor victim on online classified ad service websites.

As part of her guilty plea, Beuving faces up to three years in prison and up to one year of supervised release. Additionally, she may be fined up to $250,000 and will be required to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative by the Department of Justice launched in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project utilizes federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute individuals exploiting children via the internet while also focusing on rescuing victims.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended Homeland Security Investigations and the Kenner Police Department for their roles in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni from the Financial Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.
