DHS ends Quiet Skies Program; calls for Congressional probe

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the termination of the Quiet Skies Program, citing its ineffectiveness in preventing terrorist attacks while incurring an annual cost of $200 million to taxpayers. This decision was made after it was revealed that the program had been used for political purposes rather than enhancing national security.

According to DHS, documents and communications uncovered indicate that the Quiet Skies and watchlisting programs were inconsistently applied, benefiting those politically aligned with previous administrations at the expense of broader public safety. Secretary Kristi Noem is advocating for a Congressional investigation to further explore potential corruption within these programs.

Secretary Noem stated, “It is clear that the Quiet Skies program was used as a political rolodex of the Biden Administration—weaponized against its political foes and exploited to benefit their well-heeled friends. I am calling for a Congressional investigation to unearth further corruption at the expense of the American people and the undermining of US national security.” She assured that TSA’s essential aviation and security vetting functions would continue under a renewed focus on public safety.

DHS also disclosed evidence suggesting politicization under past leadership. Notably, William “Billy” Shaheen, husband of U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen from New Hampshire, reportedly received special exemptions from review processes despite traveling with known or suspected terrorists. This exemption was allegedly granted after direct lobbying efforts by Senator Shaheen.

The list of individuals who benefited from such exemptions included foreign royals, political figures, athletes, and journalists deemed favorable by previous administrations.
