A Mexican national has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for reentering the United States illegally after being deported. Ausencio Flores Salazar, 34, faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien and is currently held in immigration custody. His arraignment is scheduled for June 11, 2025, at the federal court in Boston.
The indictment alleges that Flores Salazar was deported to Mexico in 2019 and subsequently returned to the United States without authorization. Authorities claim he was encountered on or about May 12, 2025.
If convicted of unlawful reentry, Flores Salazar could face up to two years in prison, followed by one year of supervised release and a potential fine of up to $250,000. Additionally, he would be subject to deportation after serving any imposed sentence. Sentencing decisions will be made by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the indictment alongside Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen M. Noto from the Worcester Branch Office is handling the prosecution.
It should be noted that all details within the charging documents are allegations at this stage; Flores Salazar remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
