The Heritage Foundation has expressed approval for the appointment of Dr. Lindsey Burke as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Programs at the U.S. Department of Education. Dr. Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation, praised Burke's appointment, stating: "This is a landmark victory for American education -- and for the millions of parents fighting to reclaim their God-given right to direct their children’s upbringing." He highlighted Burke's significant contributions to the school choice movement over more than a decade.

During her 17-year tenure at The Heritage Foundation, Burke led initiatives on preschool, K-12, and higher education policy and research. Her work has been featured in peer-reviewed journals like Social Science Quarterly and Educational Research and Evaluation. She has also testified before Congress on various educational issues.

Under Burke's leadership at Heritage, there was a significant push towards educational freedom. Initially limited to a few states, school choice programs expanded considerably during her time with The Heritage Foundation. This expansion is partly attributed to efforts by both The Heritage Foundation and its advocacy arm, Heritage Action for America.
