A Brazilian national, Rafael De Jesus-Ribeiro, residing unlawfully in Framingham, was sentenced in a Boston federal court for illegal reentry into the United States. The sentencing was delivered by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani and included time served, approximately 56 days, along with one year of supervised release. De Jesus-Ribeiro faces deportation proceedings following his guilty plea on May 30, 2025, to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien.
De Jesus-Ribeiro's previous deportation occurred on July 17, 2019. He had initially entered the United States illegally via Texas and provided false documentation when stopped by Border Patrol agents. After his removal in July 2019, he reentered the country without authorization.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric L. Hawkins from the Major Crimes Unit handled the prosecution.
