The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is holding its annual Fly-In event on Capitol Hill this week. This two-day advocacy gathering provides small business owners with an opportunity to engage with lawmakers and discuss issues critical to their operations. Central topics include the potential expiration of the 20% Small Business Deduction and efforts to repeal the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting mandate.
"This week, small business owners will have the opportunity to speak with lawmakers about the importance of the Small Business Deduction, and what it means for their employees, job growth and our economy," said NFIB President Brad Close. "As Congress continues to work on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and other significant legislation, we look forward to connecting Main Street America with policymakers to make sure small business issues remain a priority."
The event's agenda focuses on making the Small Business Tax Deduction permanent, as its expiration could lead to increased taxes for many businesses. Another key issue is repealing BOI requirements, which currently do not apply but pose a concern for U.S. small business owners.
Attendees will hear from several notable speakers including U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, U.S. SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, U.S. Representative Warren Davidson from Ohio’s 8th Congressional District, Kevin Hassett, Director of the White House National Economic Council, and Carol Roth, a prominent economic commentator.
NFIB will also host a pop-up donut food truck event on Wednesday morning at C St & First St SE across from Capitol South Metro Station. This informal gathering aims to facilitate discussions between NFIB members about how policies like the Small Business Tax Deduction can benefit small enterprises.
For those interested in discussing these matters further or speaking directly with participating business owners or experts during the Fly-In event, Erin Taylor at NFIB can be contacted via email.
